Following the analysis of Liverpool's on-the-ground reporter, Lewis Steele, it has been noted that this particular match marked the first occasion since September 2023, when Van Dijk missed the away encounter against Wolves due to a suspension, that the defender has been absent from significant fixtures in both the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, where the team was not yet guaranteed a spot in the next round or had clinched the title.
